I know, I’m writing this on a computer. I understand that.
It’s not computing I hate. It’s computers. They’re unreliable, maddening, and will let you down at exactly the wrong moment. The software burps, the hardware gurgles, the connections frizzle…..
No matter if it’s Linux, Windows or Mac…. make all the claims you will but I’ve used them all and all equally frustrate me.
I like computing. I like blogging and email and surfing and reading and all of the wonderful ways of communicating and sharing that they bring about.
I just wish I did not have to do it on a computer. Read the rest of this entry »

WordPress 2.5 rocks. This blog is hosted by WordPress.com, and it upgraded automatically. Pretty sweet. When the upgrade was available through my web hosting service for my WordPress install there, I clicked the button and converted that one to 2.5 as well.
Had one minor hiccup- the WYSIWYG editor in that one didn’t work right after upgrading. I did some reading on help forums, and tried the things suggested, none of which worked. So I did what all good users do- I started clicking buttons.
Turns out a plugin I was using- Tiny Table- was the culprit. I deactivated it, and no more problems. And in my search for a solution, I found a better toolbar add-on, so not only did I not lose the functionality Tiny Table brought, I gained a whole lot more.
Thanks WordPress folks! WP 2.5 is the heat!

I’m sold on WordPress. I use it, hosted under GoDaddy.com, for my ministry site, AgapeModels.com, and for this blog, my own personal musings and ramblings. It just works so easy. Redirecting my jonbius.com domain name to this place was about too easy. The whole thing was working in about five minutes.
Wish there were a WordPress operating system…..

I had enough of Windows Vista, and installed Ubuntu Linux 7.04 on my laptop here at home. (Sorry, RMS… I meant to say Gnu+Linux…. or was it Gnu/Linux or Gnu-Linux? Anyway….)
Install is flawless…. picked up my wireless network just fine, installed smoothly…. it all just works. Ubuntu has come a long way from when I first used it, back when it was still pre-release for Warty Warthog (was that the first one?).
I realized I had little need for Windows and the little headaches it gave me. All I use is Firefox, GIMP, Skype and Pidgin. Everything else is just file manager operations, or Google stuff. So why mess with Vista and it’s quirks? Ubuntu does it all, flawlessly.
