I know many modelers don’t like to build the same kit twice, but I’ve actually enjoyed doing so over the years. In my airplane building days, I built 84 Spitfires, over a dozen P-40s, and nearly a dozen P-39s. Repetitive building does not bother me in the least.
I think what I like the most about it getting the chance to apply the lessons learned to the next build. While certainly you learn general principles with each build that help with the next, building the same kit really fine tunes that. The modeler gets the chance to work on all the “if I had it to do over again” kind of things.
While I was quite happy with how my previous build of the Moebius Battlestar Galactica Viper turned out, there were quite a few “if I had it to do over again” ideas. So this build has dual fun – not only is it an enjoyable build, but I get to apply the lessons learned from the previous one.
This video takes a very detailed look at the process of assembling the model, and will hopefully demonstrate some methods and tips that will be useful to any modeler of any skill level.
