Shop Talk: Evaluating New Paints

One of the great things in our hobby is getting new stuff. New kits, new tools, new brushes, new airbrushes, new paints… whatever it is, if it is new – we like it.

Yet each new thing brings along the need to evaluate it. How does it work? Is it better than what I may have already been using? Does it improve the outcomes on my models?

Paint can be an especially critical thing to do a thorough evaluation of. While folks rarely run to the local hobby shop and buy up an entire range of paint, the money, time, and outcome questions really matter. Is this a paint worth investing in more – or should it be avoided?
