When I’d switched over to doing scifi, one of the aspects of that was the excitement of all the “new” stuff I kept stumbling across. It was all new to me. It was a kid finding a whole new candy shop, where everything was different and exciting.
In making that genre switch, I started seeking out creators in the different areas that I had an interest in. One person that people kept mentioning was Lincoln Wright of Paint on Plastic. In checking out his YouTube channel, I found a project he’d worked on that I thought looked amazing – the Warhammer 40K Ghostkeel Battlesuit.
And then when I saw Duncan Rhodes build one too – that was it. I was hooked.
I had no idea what a Ghostkeel was, or why he’d need a battlesuit. But I did know that it was an amazing looking stompy shooty pew-pew thing. And how cool is that stark black, white, and red?
So I did what any respectable modeler does and built one. (Thanks to a kind patron who sent the model to me. Thanks Chris!)
Yeah, it’s weird looking. But it hits high on the cool factor chart for me. And the best part?
It was so much fun.
