I think one of my favorite colors to paint on a model is olive drab. It just seems to weather so wonderfully from a modelers perspective. It can be finished as fairly new, or presented as absolutely used and abused and with no two patches seemingly the same color.
It’s not hard to weather other colors necessarily, although a few can be tricky to keep them “reading” correctly. And paints from WWII also weathered at varying rates. Some were quite durable, and at most generally got a bit faded.
But I think US OD Green was the king of gnarly. It could range from pale yellow to baby poop brown, all on the same vehicle. It has always been then most fun color for me to weather, because I don’t know that it is possible to actually overdo it.
I got a decent base started on the Airacobra, and added a quite glossy coat for the decals to go over. More weathering will come in the next part, of course. But this video shows a good way (I think) to get OD to look worn out.
And the method works for just about any other color too, with perhaps just a few adjustments.
