In this video, I show how I painted the Games Workshop Warhammer 40K Rogal Dorn Battle Tank. However, it’s not the typical scheme you may be used to seeing.
I’d first seen this scheme in a June 2022 posting on the Warhammer Community website. Something about the blue suited figures in white armor, and the gray and white camo on the tanks really grabbed me. I decided I wanted to do something like that.

After a bit of research, I found out that ‘eavy Metal painter Paul Norton had an article published in the October 2017 White Dwarf magazine that showed how he’d painted the figures. Further research gave me some clues as to how the tanks had been painted.
I decided to deviate a little from the colors of the original image I saw for the tank, and go with something a bit more blue, so that the figures would seem more connected to the overall look.
The great thing about the methods I employed are that they’re accessible to anyone of any skill level. No airbrushes used, no odd mixes of paints, no fancy techniques. Just basic paints right out of the bottle, a few common brushes, and a focus on the fun.
