This video will be the start of a long term series over the course of the next year or so that will go in great detail into every step of building a model.
I’ve done plenty of videos that show a model from start to finish, but it usually just focuses on single techniques for the overall finish. And I’ve done other videos that demonstrate a technique, but it’s usually just a “snippet” of it.
I decided I wanted to do a series that shows all the steps, and demonstrates lots of variations. So instead of just doing an oil wash, for example, I plan to do oils, enamels, acrylics, and whatever else I think of. All on the same model.
And still try to make it come out looking cohesive. ????
Of course, step one is just getting it painted. I kept this one simple, using a brush painting technique that anyone can use to get a great start to their model.
And if you’re staring at the model in the thumbnail and thinking “that’s not something I’d build”, may I suggest you’re missing the point? I chose it precisely because few know what it is – so it really doesn’t matter. (In fact, as you start watching the video, you’ll realize that for part of it I didn’t even know what it was! ????♂️) Just think of it as some plastic used for demonstration purposes. A neutral canvas, if you will.
