Originally this series of videos about preparing the interior of the A-A5 Speeder Truck was created for Patreon, and then I followed those with three other public YouTube videos detailing the exterior – one for painting it, and then weathering the exterior was covered in two more videos. (Part 1 and Part 2) With this public release of the eight part interior series, I think this represents a fairly thorough treatment of the full subject.
At the very least, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. I suppose one has to mentally justify the time expenditure required to paint a plastic toy in 11 videos that (so far) have an average of 400 views +/_ each. And the average view time is maybe 5-6 minutes at best.
But my focus has shifted, so my goal’s now are simply to have fun and perhaps be helpful. Though I suppose a case could be made that if I keep whining about the lack of traffic, but then say it doesn’t bother me, well… Inigo Montoya’s famous quote keeps running through my head.
Whatever Jon… just move along.
This is an extremely fun kit. Sadly, many may turn their nose up at it. It’s not a historical plane or tank. It’s not a “proper” scifi kit in that it never appeared in anything but a Star Wars video game. And it’s designed for a tabletop game, which instantly makes it plamo non grata among most anyone other than people who like playing tabletop games. Heck, even some tabletop gamers who favor one franchise over another may turn their nose up at it.

Yet the fact remains that this is one of the best made and highly detailed models I’ve ever built. There are so many greeblies, nooks and crannies to paint and weather. It just looks cool.
Many people tell me that they’re afraid to “ruin” a model trying new techniques on their preferred genre and a favorite kit. So why not try a kit completely outside of your genre that allows you to build up reps on something you really don’t care about? That way there are no worries about the whole notion of “ruining it”, which is mostly nonsense anyway. Paint over the mistakes for goodness sake.
I guess this has turned into an old man rant. So I’ll stop.
Here are some new old videos that go with some old old videos about painting and weathering the innards and outtards of a really cool Star Wars model.
But what do I know? 🤷♂️😉
