Leman Russ Part 1 – Adding Resin and Assembly

One of the first Warhammer 40K kits I built was the Leman Russ tank. If you’re wondering, Leman Russ is some dude in the Warhammer game that did some stuff and his parents named him after Lemanade. (I may be a tad off on that last point.)

But never mind what the lore is regarding the game, because the fact is that the model is a cool mix of old-style WWI aesthetic with a load of laser and giant cannon shootie pew pew and it looks over the top and ridiculous and I love it.

And there can’t be any discussion about whether the mud I will use was like that found in Kursk or Normandy or wherever. (Like any of us was there at the time…)

Wow… I’m in full “old man” mode today. But I digress….

This is a variant from what is called The Horus Heresy, which if I understand correctly was a time when some guy named Horus heard the Who. Or maybe it was Led Zeppelin. Or Cream. But whatever the case, we’ll go with the whole “Horus hears the Who”, and he shouted “I’m gonna wave my freak flag high” (spot that reference…) and then attacked some emperor dude, and battle ensued for a while. Pete Townsend ended up bashing his guitar to pieces again, and Horus got the blame, and they played “Time Warp” or something and then the movie ended but I was in the bathroom so I missed the details.

And this tank was in it.

Unless you play 40K, not 30K, and then it is a Death Korps of Krieg tank, a race of people so gassy they all wear gas masks.

So that’s all the lore you need to know.

(I may be a tad off in these points too.)

Here’s a video of me assembling the Lemanade Russ tank from Horus Hears The Who and using resin and getting it screwed up but not caring and then I primed it. As models go, it is fun. Lots of fun.
