Poll: What Is Your Favorite Modeling Genre?

·

I’m always curious about people’s preferred modeling genres. I know many are like me and build in a variety of genres, and even sub-genres.

Yet when it comes to that one… the one that if you were stranded on a desert island, and aside from wanting to leave (or not), if you could be stranded with one GIANT stack of kits – what would that be?

My team of accountants over at Simian & Simian CPAs (PLLC) will tabulate the results and I’ll write some nonsense about it later.

I’m sure it will be riveting reading. Count on it.

Hey Jon, fun stuff. I wish that I could have chosen 2 or even better 3, that is how much my preferences have changed over the years I have been building kits.

    1. I thought about that, but I decided (purposefully) to focus it down to one – to force a choice. Mostly for curiosity. It’s actually in conjunction with a poll over on YouTube. (https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxtuCQhFpsGuF4KnfQ2DgGeGXDAbPHUJST)

      Data points. 🙂

I had to vote for just one but I alternate between Mak, airplanes, tanks and sci-fi, not in any particular order. Planes is what got me in the hobby during the dark ages…

    1. Planes brought me back! Gundam kept me in after I burned out on planes. Now I treat it like a mostly scifi buffet. 🙂

  3. Hi Jon
This is complicated. Not for the usual “I have more than one”, but maybe “I don’t have one”. I have a soft spot for a smallish collection of aircraft. There are some armor pieces I really like. There are some Warhammer characters I love (yeah, that probably makes me a terrible person, nobody in Warhammer is good). The list goes on, but it’s never “I love everything in a genre” or even “I like most things in a genre”. I guess I should also caveat this with “as things I’m interested in building/making”, because I can look at almost any model and appreciate all manner of art/effort/skill/etc that went into it, while having zero interest in doing it myself.

    1. Thanks Louis!
